Musharraf's desperation to grab Kashmir is explained by his instinct to survive the Jihadi bullet and live to strike a deal with us Americans later

His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf knows that time is not on his side. he is hunting with the Jihadi Hound and running with the American Hare. And he faces a mortal threat from both. Openly so from the Jihadi hounds who tried many a time to assassinate him, and also from the American hare, which too is bleeding him to death, by making him sacrifice Pakistan's baby - the Taliban in 2001, making him give bases to the American Marines from 2001 onwards. We never really needed the bases to attack Afghanistan. When our ICBMs could come over the Artic to hit targets in Pakistan. When our navy had capability to hit Afghanistan from International waters, why would we need Dalbandin and Panjgor? The simple reason is to use them in a land operation in 2006 against Iran and then eventually against Pakistan.

The Jihadis are after the general's blood, as they see in him a traitor to their cause, who ditched the Taliban and is now dancing to America's tune (at least seemingly) in America's War on Terror. They desperately want him out of the way, so that a Jihadi general from the Pakistani military could replace him and put Pakistani nuclear arsenal at their disposal.

For his part, His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf has to show his people and to his Jihadi generals in his military and to the Jihadi toughs in the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, Badr Brigades Inc., that Pakistan has gained from the American alliance, so far only dollars and promises of delivery of F16s have come his way. He too has done shadow boxing by making a pretence of trying to capture Osama, Zawahiri, while delivering relative small fries like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to us.

Once the Iran phase of the war on terror is done, we would have no use for His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf. And then we would hold no more carrots to him. He knows very well that he agreed to a Treaty of Hudaibiya post 9/11, to save Pakistan's few nukes (strategic assets), for he knew that we’d have taken them out immediately before the attack on Afghanistan, had he not squealed then in response to Colin call of "Are you with or with the Terrorists".

His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf also knows that his surrender to us was not out of conviction, hence he invoked the name of Hudaibiya when referring to his pact with us. We know Islamic traditions, Your Excellency, and so we read your mind too. You have read ours too, when you said in an unguarded moment that Americans might invade Pakistan after finishing up with Iraq. You were wrong in a small detail Your Excellency, we will not invade Pakistan, till we use your bases to liberate Iran, after which obviously, your prediction will ring true!

So His Excellency knows that and he is biding his time by running with the American hare. He not only wants to make a farce of hunting down the Jihadi hound. We Americans know that very well to Your Excellency. And so you want to force a settlement of your nation’s dispute with India at short notice and dangle that before your Corp Commanders as your achievement over what Generals Yahya, Zia and Bhutto could not achieve. But your wish to make your horse fly, before he reached the ledge cannot come off, since a horse does not fly and to hope that it will, while galloping towards the ledge is to go towards a certain doom, while hoping against hope.

Even if you do get Kashmir, it does not change our strategy on the War on Terror one bit, since we want to eliminate the threat to our homeland that came to our shores on 9/11. A threat that comes from an ethos common to Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and many other parts of the world.

We are engaged in a war on terror, and will eliminate all those who can potentially be threats to our way of life and that includes Pakistani. After all according our survey's Pakistanis are the most anti-American of the populations of Muslim nations. We shall not leave such a population unsubdued, leave alone build any trustworthy alliance. If His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf is able to hoodwink India into surrendering Kashmir, he hope to ingratiate himself in the eyes of the Jihadis of having become a Ghazi by conning Kafir India out of Kashmir, and hope that when Kafir America finally turns on Pakistan, he could have had survived as head of Pakistan, and then continue to do so by cutting a deal with us American Kafirs and continue to lord over his fiefdom called Pakistan. But we American have no love lost for his Paks.

His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf knows our mindset, as we know his and therein lies his urgency to solve the Kashmir dispute in Pakistan's favor before the tide of history can sweep him away, unless he falls to the assassin's bullet before that. Not many Indians tough understand His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf' mindset for if they did, they would not have gone in for CBMs in Kashmirs while His Excellency General Pervez Musharraf goes in for ICBMs (Shaheen, Ghauri, Ghaznavi, et al). Ironically CBMs in India translate to Confidence Building Measures with Pakistan, while in Pakistan ICBMs mean Inter=Continental ballistic Missiles. But India's Minister Nutwar Singh who subscribes to the ugly litter Nehruvian non-alignment and the Prime Minister with the bandaged head are numb-skulled enough not to perceive the difference.
